Product Details

ROYAL CANIN® Veterinary Health Nutrition Since 1968, Royal Canin has been following the belief that nutrition plays a key role in supporting the health and wellbeing of cats and dogs. This is why we have designed ROYAL CANIN® veterinary diets around proven nutritional science in partnership with pet professionals and experts, delivering nutrition for pets with specific health needs.

Small dogs with Chronic Renal Insufficiency may benefit from a specially tailored diet to support their kidney function, as well as address the specific sensitivities associated with their size. ROYAL CANIN® Renal Small Dog dry food is specially formulated to support renal function in small breed dogs that weigh up to 10kg.

Royal Canin’s small dog renal dry food is suitable for:
• Dogs with azotaemic Chronic Kidney Disease (IRIS stage 2 to stage 4).
• Dogs with Chronic Kidney Disease with proteinuria (IRIS stage 1 to 4).

Key Benefits

Renal support
o For dogs with Chronic Renal Insufficiency, the kidneys may not be able to effectively filter phosphorus from the bloodstream. ROYAL CANIN® Renal Small Dogs is specially formulated with a low phosphorus content to help support renal function. A moderate content of high quality and highly digestible proteins is also included in this formula.

Adapted Energy
o It is common for dogs with Chronic Renal Insufficiency to experience a reduced appetite or even food aversion. ROYAL CANIN® Renal Small Dogs has an adapted energy content in order to reduce the volume of each meal and support your dog in cases of a reduced appetite.

Aromatic choice
o To further support your dog through cases of food aversion and a decreased appetite, ROYAL CANIN® Renal Small Dogs boasts a specific aromatic profile with a dedicated kibble size, shape and texture to help stimulate your dog's appetite and entice them back to their food bowl.

Royal Canin are proud to partner with leading veterinary scientists to produce a small breed dog food for kidney disease . As part of the ROYAL CANIN® Veterinary Range, it is important that this product is only fed to your pet when recommended by a veterinary professional. Transitioning your pet from one diet to another should be a smooth and gradual process over a 7-10-day period. Please ensure you follow the correct rationing amount.

We know that enticing your dog to their food bowl can be challenging in cases of food aversion or reduced appetite. To cater to each dog's individual preferences, ROYAL CANIN® Renal wet food is also suitable for small breed dogs. Texture variety can help to stimulate your dog's appetite. If your dog enjoys a mixed diet of wet and dry food, be sure to reference the on-pack feeding guides to ensure a healthy daily food intake for your dog. ROYAL CANIN® Renal Veterinary diets are specially formulated to support dogs with Chronic Renal Insufficiency.

Please note: Royal Canin Renal is not suitable for growth, gestation, lactation or pancreatitis.

Customer Reviews (4.6 / 5 · 5 reviews)

Penelope ★★★★★

My older Chihuahua has been much more willing to eat this since I switched, and I can already see her drinking a bit less water. The restricted protein level seems to be agreeing with her kidneys without upsetting her stomach.

Aurora ★★★★★

My vet recommended this for my older Shih Tzu's kidneys, and I've noticed she's been more energetic since switching. The kibble size is perfect for her tiny mouth, which was a concern with other renal diets.

Steven L. ★★★★★

We switched to this when our little dog’s kidney values started rising, and the smaller kibble size is perfect for her tiny mouth. She actually eats it without any fuss, which is a huge relief.
